Stopped overnight over the Christmas period on my way north. Hotel would have gotten a 4 star rating but the dining experience was so disappointing that really marked down my stay. I chose this hotel because it offered a one stop lodging and restaurant that seemed very convenient after a long drive. Review for the restaurant were really good and I wanted specifically a place that had a nice restaurant. The reality was that the food was so bad that neither my wife or I finished our meal. The pork was pretty much all fat, and the chips must have been fried with old oil and just stunk. The child menu looked like Iceland frozen meals....what a shame when you on top consider the price which is in the mid 20s for a terrible main so you end up paying close to 50 per person.On the other hand the hotel is nice, though a bit aged but to be fair for the price was very good and beyond expectations. Room clean and spacious and the staff was very nice both in the restaurant and in the hotel. This would be a great place if only they made an effort in offering nice pub food in the restaurant at a reasonable price
Absolutely beautiful place. I highly recommend staying here. We are thinking of doing our wedding here in the future as we loved it so much.
Brilliant place. Spent 2 days hear for my daughters wedding. Rooms nice food lovely. Staff very helpful.
Easy to find of the A64. Lovely grounds and castle with lots of history. Didn't use the spa but the food at the restaurant was one of the best meals I've ever had. Room clean, pleasant and comfortable. We just went for standard accommodation and was better than expected. Highly recommend this for a quiet weekend away
Had a short excellent guided tour by concierge Steve, very interesting. Lovely afternoon tea, though could have been more sandwiches. Half hour beauty treatment very good, excellent therapist. Large car park but long walk to the reception. Made to feel very welcome. Beautifully heated. Unsure if level entry.
